And these brilliant business tips are all here for free! So settle in and scoop up these tantalizing goodies before your competition does!

#10. Check out the Ch-ch-ch-checklists

#10. Our first tip is all about the marketing process. The good folks over at process.st have put together 10 (much like the number of this tip – coincidence? We think not!) helpful checklists to help you with a ton of marketing-related tasks.

These are just fantastic because they included all of those niggling little details that, let’s face it, are super-easy to forget.

Such as?

How about a checklist all about researching keywords? Not only does this checklist provide, well, a list. It also shows you where to go and what to do, in order to complete all of the suggested sub-tasks.

We’re such thieves. We are so stealing this one.

#9. The Age of Influence

#9. The next tip is about influencer marketing. So the team over at Growth Rocks answered that burning question: just what the heck is an influencer anyway? And why should I make them a part of my marketing strategy?

The concept isn’t a new one. In fact, per the article, it goes back a good three centuries. It is, essentially, a celebrity endorsement. From Wilford Brimley to Susan Lucci, countless celebrities have endorsed thousands if not millions of products.

But today, things are just a little bit different. For one thing, the definition of ‘celebrity’ has changed – just ask any Instagram model.

Break the Ice

And so the idea is to approach those folks – assuming they have a following within your buyer persona’s wheelhouse – and make a deal with them when it comes to product endorsements.

And when it comes to millennial customers, they tend to trust YouTube influencers more than traditional celebrities. YouTube and Facebook are reportedly the most effective platforms. So, maybe, gone are the days of “I’m not a doctor, but I play one on TV.”

#8. Automate to Get Personal

#8. Our following tip concerns eCommerce marketing automation, and it comes from the professionals at Sumo.com. Now, you may be saying, well, I don’t need automation. My customers prefer the personal touch.

And that is totally awesome! But as Sumo.com says, automation will save you enormous amounts of time. So consider this for-instance.

A Little Story about How Social Media Can Take Over Your Life

Your company wants to post, say, four times a day on Instagram, twice a day on Twitter, and six times a day on Facebook. Those numbers are purely for the sake of this example. For a seven-day week, that is:

  • 28 Instagram Posts
  • 14 Tweets
  • 42 Facebook Posts
  • 77 TOTAL Posts

But what happens when you want to expand your reach and add, say, Snapchat? Or your social media person comes down with mono? Plus, do you really want to make them work on the weekend every single week, without fail? What do they do during the holidays?

So while 77 posts per week may not seem like a lot, that’s over 4,000 posts per year! And if every post takes five seconds (yes, we said seconds), then that’s still 20,000 seconds, AKA over 333 minutes, which is really about five and a half hours. And that may still not seem like a lot.

But what happens if you get embroiled in a social media crisis? Or something else happens with your business? For everything from moving offices to a hurricane or a rush job, you might not have the time to do all of that posting.

Automation to the Rescue!

With automation, those 4,000 annual posts go out like clockwork. After a little setup, out they go. And then when you want to give a customer personal attention, you can, without worrying about all of your daily posts.

Also, you can add Snapchat, Pinterest, Google+, etc. without missing a beat.

Recommendations

Sumo is also provides helpful recommendations when it comes to which solution you might want for email and social media automations. So treat your customers – and your staff – well with automation.

#7. Reach for the Social Media Sky

#7. For our next tip, we looked at expanding your reach on social media. A Platter of Gold created a fabulous infographic which gives a brief lowdown on effectively using social media to grow your business.

LinkedIn

They looked at LinkedIn, and recommended filling out descriptions well, and with keywords. We cannot emphasize this enough, and not just for LinkedIn! So think about how you search on LinkedIn or really anywhere else. You are looking for a match, yes?

Hence a vague profile or website or page doesn’t inspire confidence in that area.

Looking for love? Then it’s a good idea to make sure you fill your profile with how much you want to meet a short flamenco dancer, or whatever. Same principle applies here.

Twitter

For Twitter, they talk about making connections, and for Facebook, they mention joining relevant industry groups. All of this makes a ton of sense, so be sure to check out their infographic.

#6. Share and Share Alike – When it comes to Office Space

#6. This tip is so fantastic, and it works! At Business Partner Magazine, they looked into the perks of co-working. That is, sharing office space. Going beyond a virtual office, coworking brings together all sorts of professionals to share space and get things done.

As a result, you might need a photographer, say, and they could be working three desks down from you!

The Pros

One major perk is that it offers a degree of socializing which is truly impossible in a remote work from home situation.

Working from home can be lonely and it can also be exceptionally distracting. The dog looks at you with big eyes and wants to go for a walk – again. The mountain of laundry needs tending. And your bed looks oh so comfortable. Aren’t power naps supposed to be a good thing?

Not to mention how you can sometimes be interrupted during the day if others don’t respect your work time. Co-working fixes all of that, as you are now out among people. You’ve got to be presentable, of course, and you’re paying for the space.

So it should be an incentive to being more productive.

The Cons

The article also thoughtfully goes into the cons of sharing a space. Some of the expected and hoped-for collaboration and socializing just might not be there, for starters.

But if you have a work from home arrangement and it’s not quite working out, then co-working just might be the solution you need.

#5. Play the Business Game to Win

#5. Grab this tip while it’s hot! Play the business game to win and hit a company home run every time. Be Mr. or Ms. October at your firm!

For Cake.hr, the idea behind gamifying human resources makes a ton of sense. Gamification, they say, can help develop a more engaged workforce – and that means employees are more likely to stick around. And they’ll perform better, too.

Cake.hr also likes the idea of gamifying interactions with customers. Think about reward systems for everything from hanging around a booth at an industry trade show to leaving a review about the company.

Competition is everywhere, and it’s a natural for business. So swing for those fences!

#4. B2B Content Connections

#4. Check out this tip, all about the kinds of B2B content you should be making. Elise Dopson amassed a great list of content types, some of which you may not have thought about. So if you are marketing to a business, check out her terrific ideas.

We especially loved the take on original research. Of course it’s great – it’s original! Hence original research can make pretty much any company stand out.

If yours is the only company which has reliable, scientifically obtained and interpreted data on, say, how many widgets were sold in Poughkeepsie in 2010, then that’s a valuable commodity – but only to the people who are interested in it, of course.

Plus you’re adding to the overall wisdom of the world when you fling your original research and conclusions onto the interwebs. And that’s kinda cool.

#3. Enchanting – not Embarrassing – Email Marketing

#3. It’s not your imagination: this winning tip can save your bacon when email marketing. Savvy Blogging Tips showcased five tips to change your email marketing game. In particular, we didn’t just like #5 – we think it’s a downright necessity under GDPR.

What is it? Why, it’s the ever-popular unsubscribe option.

So, why should we – or you – get all hot and bothered about making sure to have a clearly-marked, east to find and use unsubscribe option? Because dragging in prospects, kicking and screaming, is not going to win you any sales. Let those people go.

And concentrate your email marketing efforts where they are bound to do the most good – with the people who are interested in reading about what you have to say, and are open to buying what you’re selling.

#2. What’s Your Instagram Story, Morning Glory?

#2. Our second to last tip can give you a new perspective on Instagram stories, and using them for marketing. Soft Script Solutions wrote a great roundup of not only how to use Instagram stories, but how to create one in the first place.

They even suggest how to research your audience and find out when they are most likely to be active on Instagram.

They also show how to use hashtags effectively, and how they believe the Instagram algorithm works.

#1. Last Stop – Local SEO

#1. We saved the best for last. For our favorite remarkable tip, we focused on local SEO campaigns. Impact showcased a stellar infographic from On Blast Blog, all about conquering Google with excellent SEO for local search.

The infographic covers just about every possible eventuality when it comes to local search. It’s everything from checking if your business categories are right to how to write schema markup codes.

Much like our #10 tip, this infographic is a handy way to not forget some small detail that makes all the difference in the world but could be so easily overlooked.
