Before getting a BOA business credit card, it’s important to ask: Does Bank of America business card report to personal credit? Will they show up on your personal credit report?

Bank of America cards do report to personal credit bureaus. While it might be possible to get these business credit cards with EIN only, this is generally reserved for established businesses with outstanding credit and strong, consistent revenue.

This applies to almost every traditional card issuer.

As such, your personal credit can be at risk with a BOA business credit card.

Bank of America is a card issuer that only reports if your account is delinquent. If you make on-time payments and you never miss one, nothing will show up on your personal credit report.

If something should happen, however, they will report your lack of payment to personal credit bureaus. This can be a slippery slope if something happens in your business that creates temporary financial issues.

Always aim to fund your business with a business credit card that doesn’t require personal guarantee and doesn’t ask to conduct a personal credit check. Your card should be EIN-only so that it only affects your business credit score.

Just keep in mind that some EIN cards will still ask for your SSN. However, your personal credit score won’t be affected when you provide this personal information.

Other Business Cards That Report to the Personal Credit Bureaus

Some business cards, like corporate cards and some fleet cards, don’t report to personal credit bureaus. But what you may be surprised to learn is that many banking institutions will report to personal credit.

Your business credit score may not be the only thing affected by a popular business card issuer.

Institutions with popular business credit card solutions that report to each major business credit bureau and consumer credit bureau are included in this table:

Who the Major Business Credit Card Issuers Report To

Brand When They Report To Personal Bureaus
American Express Negative Card Activity Only
Capital One Reports All Business Credit Card Activity, With a Few Exceptions That May Not Affect Your Personal Credit Score
Chase Negative Business Credit Card Activity
Wells Fargo Negative Business Credit Card Activity
Citi May Report All Business Credit Card Activity to Each Major Credit Bureau
U.S. Bank Negative Business Credit Card Activity

The takeaway? When you’re looking for credit cards that report to Dun & Bradstreet, make sure your business credit card issuers don’t report to personal credit bureaus as well. You don’t want your personal credit score and credit history to be tied to your small business credit card at all.
